Lynn Colebank is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She started her counseling career at 23 years old in a Boston suburb as an intern/volunteer. Later she worked as a full-time counselor/ministry leader at the age of 26. Before she graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1996 with a Master of Arts in Counseling, she had the distinction of being accepted into the prestigious Tewksbury Hospital, Dual Diagnosis Unit and practicing as one of only six Master’s degree students accepted in a pre-doctoral 800 hour intern program. Lynn worked as a full time Young Adult Ministry leader/counselor until she met and married her husband Mark in 1998. After moving to Rhode Island, Lynn was the lead counselor on an ACT team in inner city Pawtucket/Central Falls and she was later instrumental in forming a Crisis Team to care for CVS Corporate employees during the aftermath of 911.
While Lynn’s children were in elementary school, Lynn worked as a Children’s Ministry leader in Alberta Cochrane and then was a pastor’s wife in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lynn came to Wake Forest in 2011 for her husband to complete his doctorate at SEBTS.
Since returning to the US, Lynn worked as an assessment clinician for an agency next to Duke Raleigh Hospital and as an EAP Counselor/Manager with Corporate Chaplains of America. Lynn has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (NCBLPC), a Licensed Counselor Addiction Specialist (NCSAPPB) and an Employment Assistance Professional (EAPA).
Lynn’s specializes in working with those that are overwhelmed, stuck in unhealthy relational patterns, burnt out, and living chaotic lives looking for hope and change. She also works with those who have difficulty regulating their emotions and/or responsibilities. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, the Family Systems Model, Mindfulness and other therapeutic methods on the journey to peace, renewal and grace. She works with individuals, families and couples.
Lynn is a member of the American Counseling Association, the North Carolina Counseling Association and the American Christian Counseling Association. She offers Christian-based/Biblical counseling upon request.
Lynn is a mother of three teenagers and married to her husband Mark for over 20 years. She enjoys pickleball, music, walking in the awesome trails in Wake Forest and reading at the beautiful NC beaches!
