Dr. Cierra Barker graduated with her Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Psychology from The University Of The Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. She completed her internship at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety working at Central Prison and the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh.

Dr. Barker’s bubbly personality and warm presence invite clients to quickly join in the therapeutic process. She believes every client deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and heard, and she aims to provide a safe environment and genuine interaction within each session.

Dr. Barker has extensive experience in individual therapy, group therapy, and in conducting assessments with adults and adolescents. She particularly enjoys therapeutic work with clients experiencing mood disorders, personality disorders, substance abuse, psychotic disorders, intellectual disabilities, and those recovering from traumatic experiences.

Her clinical training and experience include work conducting forensic assessments in the area of competency to stand trial and psychosexual risk. Other areas of testing/assessment include: Intellectual Disability Evaluations, Personality, Mood, Custody Evaluations, and general forensic testing.

Clinically, Dr. Barker practices from a feminist perspective while utilizing techniques based on cognitive-behavioral therapy, and an eclectic approach of other theories according to the needs of each client. Dr. Barker works with adults and teens in therapy and performs assessments on ages 14 and older.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Barker enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, relaxing at the beach with a good book, and spoiling her 2-year-old Border Collie Mix, Stanley. She is also a devoted University of Kentucky Men’s College Basketball fan and rarely misses an opportunity to cheer on the Wildcats to victory with her significant other Tim.
