Allen Mayberry received his Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Prior to becoming an LCMHCA, he served as an intern at Perkins CPS as he helped the intake coordinator.
Allen offers individual counseling for teens and adults, as well as to premarital/marital couples. He is a trained and certified facilitator of the Prepare-Enrich marriage assessment and curriculum. His experience has also involved facilitating groups. Areas of expertise for Allen include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, chronic pain, and relational issues.
Allen believes that counseling is necessary and helpful for many people during times that are difficult. The counseling process may be geared towards changing unhelpful beliefs and behaviors, learning how to adjust to difficult circumstances in a healthy manner, becoming more informed on a particular issue, or some combination of all the above. Allen takes an integrated approach to counseling depending on the case at hand, though Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the primary methodology used.
Allen’s education and training also enable him to provide Christian/biblical counseling for those who request it.
Allen is married to his wonderful wife for just over 3 years now. They have a 1-year-old son with a second child on the way in May. He enjoys reading, all things sports, Mario Kart, and trips to the beach and the mountains.
