Mary Marshall Simonson is a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 10 years in the mental health field. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Counselor from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD in 2010 and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Elon University in 2001.
Mary Marshall’s clinical focus during these 10 years has been serving adults and older adolescences in clinical outpatient settings, the community, and via in-home therapy. She has extensive experience conducting clinical assessments, formulating diagnoses, providing individual and group therapy to clients. She treats Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress, Mood Instability, Family/Relationship Conflict, Grief, Traumatic Events, Life Transitions, Work-Related Stress Management, and Adjustment conflict. Mary Marshall also provides assistance to those people struggling with Addiction and Pain Management.
Her goal is to help you navigate the difficult and stressful spots in your life. She will provide a safe space for you, whether this is the first time you’ve sought help or you’ve been involved in therapy in the past, to be able to open up and discuss the things that are on your mind. She will work with you to determine some short-term goals and a long-term plan of action. She will use cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques and will blend them together and use other therapeutic modalities based on an individual’s needs. Mary Marshall will assist you in changing the thinking that impacts the actions which shape faulty thinking to give you a healthy and balanced sense of who you are and can be.
Mary Marshall is a wife and mother and finds purpose in helping others to be their very best. She is a Greensboro native and appreciates the diversity found within our state. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and also enjoys cooking and the outdoors. Mary Marshall has been married 3 years and has an amazing daughter and two cats.
