Dr. Sarah Border is a Psychology Postdoctoral Intern. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology with minors in Women’s Studies and Spanish from Marshall University in West Virginia. She completed her M.A. in Psychology and her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Marshall University. Sarah’s pre-doctoral internship was completed at Charleston Area Medical Center/WVU Behavioral Medicine in Charleston, West Virginia. She believes completing an internship at an academic medical center prepared her to be efficient, flexible, and well-versed in a variety of treatment modalities and settings.
Dr. Border has training and experience conducting individual therapy with people across the lifespan with a variety of presenting concerns. She has tailored her training and experiences toward health psychology and enjoys working with individuals who have co-occurring physical and mental health concerns. She also has specialty training experiences in women’s health, and particularly enjoys using evidence-based practices to help families through the pre-and post-partum periods. Dr. Border values a collaborative relationship with her clients as they navigate the process of individual therapy. She primarily operates using a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach in which individual behaviors, thoughts, and feelings are used in conjunction to improve client quality of life.
Dr. Border also has training with psychological assessments which include diagnostic clarification, adaptive functioning, and intellectual functioning. Psychological assessments are great tools for making personalized recommendations.
Dr. Border was born and raised in West Virginia and is excited to learn more about the Raleigh area. She is looking forward to exploring local food, music, and outdoor activities.
