Rick McKoy is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate with a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Rick has developed counseling skills in the areas of life adjustments, communication skills, conflict resolution, relational skills, depression, anxiety, and vocational assessment/decision-making. The areas he is most passionate about are marriage, pre-marital, family and career counseling.
Rick’s academic training and experience has been based on “integrated” theoretical practices and approach, drawing from the best practices of counseling theories as well as from a Biblical worldview. Cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused and client-centered techniques are the theories he has had the most training and experience in. In addition, Rick has over 25 years in lay ministry teaching, training, coaching and mentoring couples and men.
Rick is very committed and involved in the church and ministry serving as an elder, marriage ministry leader, church planter and Christian education. In addition to his counseling training and experience, Rick has had a 37 year professional business career in sales and human resource management with a major consumer foods company.
He and his wife of over 37 years spend much of their time mentoring engaged and married couples, actively involved in the lives of their 6 grandchildren, and actively engaged in their own personal brand of therapy – getting outdoors to camp, hike, bike, and go boating.
